Vinted search tips: 25 techniques to find hidden gems before everyone else
Sunday, 10:37 pm. Someone lists a wool "Ralf Loren jumper", size M, for €9. Two typos in the title, and the listing becomes almost invisible: who types "Ralf Loren"? Hardly anyone. The people who find gems on Vinted aren't luckier than you. They just search differently. Here are their 25 Vinted search tips, followed by how to make them run on their own, day and night. (Scene: illustrative example.)
In short
- Our verdict: VINTI is the best tool for putting these Vinted search tips into practice. It covers every filter (excluded words, excluded sellers, minimum seller rating, a country of your choice for each search among 21 Vinted countries), monitors your searches 24/7 and alerts you in the Real-time feed, by push, on Discord and on Telegram, from €9.99/month.
- The best deals hide behind typos, poorly chosen words and badly labelled sizes.
- Three settings do half the work: keyword variants, excluded words and sorting by newest.
- Once built, a search can be monitored 24/7 by VINTI, which alerts you the moment a listing goes live.
In 30 seconds: the 5 tips that pay off most
No time to read it all? Start with these five.
- Type the typos of the brands you love (tip 1).
- Exclude the noise words: "style", "type", "kids" (tip 8).
- Sort by newest (tip 9).
- Search by material: wool, leather, silk, linen (tip 13).
- Browse the whole wardrobe of the seller behind a gem (tip 20).
Vinted keywords: how do you find what others miss?
By typing what the seller wrote, not what you would have written. Lots of people clear out their wardrobes quickly, without knowing the brand or the model. Their imperfect titles are your advantage.
1. Brand typos
"Ralf Lauren", "Adiddas", "Nikee", "Lacost", "Tommy Hilfinger": every typo is a shop window almost nobody looks in. Write down three likely typos for each brand you follow.
2. Spelling variants
"Levi's", "Levis"; "Sézane", "Sezane"; "Dr Martens", "Doc Martens". Try them all: the results often differ.
3. The model and its reference
"Levi's 501", "New Balance 550", "Air Force 1": the model filters better than the brand alone, and a number doesn't need translating.
4. Describe instead of naming
The seller doesn't know the brand? They describe it. Search "green wool cable knit jumper" or "tan leather crossbody bag": lovely pieces without a famous label, so less competition.
5. Era words
"Vintage", "90s", "made in France", "made in Italy" bring up older, well-made pieces.
6. The word "bundle"
"Baby vest bundle 6 months", "Lego bundle", "book bundle": bundles often work out cheaper per item. Families' favourite technique.
7. Styles
"Preppy", "Y2K", "boho", "gorpcore": some sellers tag their titles by style. Ideal when you're after a look rather than a brand.
8. Excluded words, your noise filter
The most underrated tip. Exclude "style", "type" and "inspired" to keep out imitations, "kids" or "junior" for an adult size, "empty box" if you want the actual pair. Your results go from a crowd to a shortlist.
Filters: which settings really make a difference?
Sorting, size, condition and material. Set up well, they weed out the useless before you even see it.
9. Sort by newest
Sort from newest to oldest. A well-priced gem goes fast: it sits at the top of this list, not buried in the middle.
10. Neighbouring sizes
The same piece can be listed as 38, M or "one size". Tick the neighbouring size and its letter equivalent. Oversized cuts come up large.
11. Shoe sizes and equivalents
A pair can be listed in EU, UK or US sizes, with half sizes depending on the brand. Check the brand's size guide and tick the close equivalents.
12. Condition
To give as a gift or resell, stick to the top conditions. On a tight budget or for a bit of mending, try the middle ones: prices there are gentler.
13. Material
Wool, cashmere, leather, linen, silk: the material filter brings quality to the top, whatever the brand. A no-name wool coat is sometimes worth more than a famous label in synthetic fabric.
14. Colour
On a very common model, a specific colour cuts hundreds of listings down to a handful. On a rare piece, leave it open.
15. A price floor and a ceiling
The maximum protects your budget. The minimum, less well known, weeds out accessories, empty boxes and listings too good to be true.
Timing: when should you search to get there first?
When the listings come in, and out of season.
16. Your own time slots
There's no magic hour that works for everyone. For a week, note the time the gems you miss were posted: your search's time slots will emerge.
17. Out of season
Coats in summer, swimsuits in winter: fewer people are looking, and sellers want to make room.
18. Regularity
One long session a week is no match for regular quick looks. A sought-after piece often goes before your next visit.
Sellers: who should you follow to see gems first?
Those with good taste and fair prices. A good seller is worth a search.
19. Members to follow
Follow the sellers whose style you like and who post often. Their new items come to you.
20. The whole wardrobe
Found a gem? Open the seller's whole wardrobe. Someone selling a rare piece cheaply often has others, and a bundle purchase lightens the bill.
21. Seller rating
For purchases that matter, favour well-rated sellers.
Countries and tools: how do you widen your hunting ground?
By searching beyond your own country, and beyond Vinted.
22. Searching by country and language
A piece that's rare where you live is sometimes plentiful elsewhere. Search in the country's language: "maglione" in Italy, "jersey" in Spain, "pull" in France. Check on the listing that delivery to your country is offered.
23. Image search
A photo but no name? An image search (Google Lens, for example) often gives you the brand and model. All that's left is to type them in.
Organisation: how do you keep it up without spending your evenings on it?
With saved searches that are precise and well maintained.
24. One search per item
A catch-all search finds nothing. Save one search per item you want, with a clear name: "501 W30 raw denim", "puffer jacket age 10".
25. The weekly clear-out
Every week, delete the silent searches, tighten the ones that overflow, and add the typos you've discovered along the way.

In "My filters", every technique becomes a setting:
| Technique | Setting in VINTI |
|---|---|
| Typos, variants, models (1 to 7) | Search field: several terms separated by commas, for example "ralph lauren, ralf lauren, ralph loren" |
| Excluded words (8) | "Exclude terms" field: "style, type, kids" |
| Sort by newest (9) | Not needed: every new matching listing lands in the Real-time feed as soon as it goes live |
| Size, condition, material, colour, price (10 to 15) | Dedicated filters, plus category and brand |
| Timing (16 to 18) | Continuous monitoring as long as the desktop app is running |
| Sellers (21) | Minimum seller rating and excluded sellers |
| Country (22) | A country of your choice for each search, among the 21 Vinted countries |
| A search already perfect on Vinted | Paste its URL: the filters are imported |
Your finds arrive in the Real-time feed of the VINTI app, as a push notification, on Discord or on Telegram. With the Plus and Professional plans, Auto-Buy adds a "Buy" button to the feed: the purchase goes through your desktop app, with your account. While the others scroll, you buy.
Your Vinted account is only used from the desktop app, on your own connection and at a natural pace — never from our servers. For full monitoring, leave the computer on with the app running; closing its window doesn't stop it.

The mistakes that make you miss the gems
Four mistakes come up again and again; all of them take two minutes to fix.
- Searching for the brand alone: just "Nike", and the gem drowns in the crowd.
- Forgetting excluded words: imitations and kids' sizes take over everything.
- A single spelling: you only see part of the listings.
- Getting there too late: the best search is useless if the item has already sold. Read our guide see new Vinted listings first.
